AFL Masters WA have undergone a recruitment process to form a Ladies Sub-Committee to drive the growth of Masters aged Female Football Participants over the next few years, to utilise the exposure from the Perth 2021 National Carnival and to increase the number of in season fixtured games across the State. The Sub Committee believe the intention of growing the female side of AFL Master’s is to increase opportunities for participants to stay engaged in football for longer, allow lost participants to re-engage and to provide opportunities for new participants to engage in a modified type of Australian Rules Football.
After a lengthy process, the AFL Masters WA Ladies Subcommittee was created with the below successful applicants:

Robert Steel - Chairman Rob played over 350 senior games of football between 1981 and 2002. He has won 10 premierships as a player for Wembley (‘78), Wanneroo (‘81, ‘83, ‘88, ‘91, ‘92, ’97 and ‘98) and Toodyay Football Clubs (‘09). He is currently playing football for the Kingsway Football Club Masters team bringing his games total to over 450. He has also held various coaching roles including assistant coach of the East Perth Football Club Reserves for five years, Kingsway reserves coach in ’96, ’00 and ’01 and the Kingsway League coach from 2010-2012. He coached the Subiaco development squads 13’s and 14’s between 1988-1993 and coached Toodyay Football Club to three premierships in 2004, 2005 and 2009. He was an assistant coach of the State Country V WAAFL in 2010 and a Masters coach at National Carnivals. Rob also has an interest in Women’s football at board level and through coaching the State Women’s side in 2006 and at the Coastal Titans. Rob has also been on the committee for the AFCA (1994 – 2005) and was re-elected in 2016. He is on the Perth Football League Board as the Coaching and Volunteers Coordinator and holds a position on the All Abilities Sub Committee. Steelo also has an active role within the Kingsway Football Club, a position he has held since 2013. Outside of football Rob works as an area officer for the Department of Fire and Emergency Services. |
Lyn Lawrence – Secretary Lyn has been involved in all aspects of football for over 25 years, from juniors, amateurs to masters. She has and continues to perform many rolls within her club, including team managing, various committee positions, but for over 12 years as Club Secretary. She is a Life Member of Quinns Districts JFC and Quinns Districts AFC. Lyn is also Secretary of the Perth Organising Committee for the 2021 Perth National Masters Carnival. She is passionate about the game and keen to be involved in assisting in the growing of women in football, both on and off the field. |

Linlee Taylor – Communications Linlee is a long time participant in women’s football. She played, captained/vice captained in the WA Women’s Football League from 1988-1990. After a 27 year break due to work commitments, she returned to women’s masters footy playing in National Masters Carnivals in Geelong and Coffs Harbour, where she was vice captain. She played in the Presidents women’s side in Geelong in 2017. She is also the foundation coach of the Warnbro Swans since 2019 to current and has also played at Warnbro Swans since 2019. |

Larry Gleeson – Regional Connection (South) Larry is a veteran of footy having played 356 Country league games in the Peel, South Suburban and Pilbara Districts, including 12 years as player/coach. He has played and umpired 137 master’s games for Kambalda and Bunbury Sharks. He held the role of country delegate for WA AFL Masters from 1995-2011. Larry is a Life Member of Centrals FC, Narembeen FC, Bunbury Sharks and WA AFL Masters, as well as a Hall of Fame inductee of WA AFL Masters. Larry has been involved in the development of the SWFL Women’s Competition and continues to promote and encourage women in football. |
Warren Bank – Club Liaison Warren is 39 years old and President and founder of the Harrisdale & Piara Waters Bears Masters Club. Warren has taken on the role of coaching the club’s inaugural women’s masters side this year. He is an ex East Fremantle League player, a WA State representative in 16’s and 18 years’ age groups and youth development coach for East Fremantle in WAFL. Warren is extremely passionate about footy and keen to be part of a successful Women’s Masters competition. |
